Brett Van Dyke is a cinematographer who brings more to the table than just a gifted visual eye. He is a master collaborator, consistently lauded for his ability to sync the visions of everyone involved—exec to producer to editor. Approaching each job with a charged emotional angle, Brett aims to make the familiar feel oddly unfamiliar.
Brett is an extremely versatile Director of Photography and his credits include television series, feature films, documentaries, commercials and music videos. Over the past few years Brett has become one of the go to 2nd Unit DPs for television. In that time he has worked on SALVATION, TAKEN, BITTEN, DARK MATTER and HEMLOCK GROVE. His main unit TV credits include the TV pilot DARK HAVEN HIGH with Fresh TV/DHX Media, Season 1 and 2 of the Disney/Family Channel series BACKSTAGE, a modern day riff on Fame. He is nominated for a CSC Award in Best Youth Programming, Comedy, Multi-Camera Sitcom for both. His film credits include TROUBLED WATERS, as well as numerous short films such as HI HONEY, MOURNFUL THINGS, DESASTRE and CREEPS.
Brett’s work has been recognized for numerous awards and nominations as well as at many prestigious festivals around the world. Including but not limited to, the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, Palm Springs Film Festival, Canadian Country Music Awards, and the Genie Awards.
