Brett Van Dyke is a cinematographer who brings more to the table than just a gifted visual eye. He is a master collaborator, consistently lauded for his ability to sync the visions of everyone involved—exec to producer to editor. Approaching each job with a charged emotional angle, Brett aims to make the familiar feel oddly unfamiliar.
Brett has worked on a variety of interesting projects including the TV documentary TAKE ME TO THE RIVER with director Jonathan Hayes and the TV pilot AMERICAN WIFE, which was the Banff International Pilot’s Competition winner at the Banff World TV Festival. His film credits include TROUBLED WATERS with Jennifer Beals, as well as numerous short films such as HI HONEY, MOURNFUL THINGS, DESASTRE and CREEPS. The latter was recognized at a variety of festivals worldwide and nominated for a Genie Award for Best Live Action Short Drama. Brett also worked on the documentary SHANE YELLOWBIRD: MUSIC CITY USA for CMT.
Brett is also in high demand for commercial and music video work. He has shot commercials for such brands as RICKARDS, ATHLETE’S WORLD, KELLOGG’S and VOLKSWAGEN. He was honored with the Best Cinematography Award at the Bessie Awards for his work on the MADD PSA. Brett traveled around the world and across Canada to shoot promos for the CTV Vancouver and London Olympic Campaigns.
Brett has shot music videos for such artists as JESSE LABELLE, JOHNNY REID, COMEBACK KID and SHANE YELLOWBIRD, a video that garnered him a CSC nomination for Best Music Video Cinematography.
